Terms of use
Last updated 22 October 2026. Version 2026-10-22.6.
Please read these terms before you use Help'd. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. We have written them in plain English on purpose.
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. See section 15.
1. About Help'd
Help'd is an app that connects people who need a small job done (Customers) with independent people who offer to do it (Helpers). Help'd is operated by Shadi David Alexander t/as Help'd Australia, ABN 95 696 795 435, of Victoria, Australia ("Help'd", "we", "us").
Help'd is an online marketplace. We provide the app, matching, messaging, safety tools and payment collection. We do not do the jobs ourselves.
Help'd is not an emergency service. If there is a gas leak, fire, smoke, electrical danger, or anyone is at risk, call 000 first.
Some features, such as card payments and photo ID checks, may not be switched on yet. The app tells you when that is the case.
2. Helpers are independent contractors
- Helpers are independent contractors who run their own small business. Every Helper must hold their own ABN. They are not employees, workers, agents or partners of Help'd.
- When a Helper accepts your job, the contract for that job is between you and the Helper. Help'd is not a party to it and does not supervise or direct how the Helper does the work.
- Helpers choose which jobs they accept, and they supply their own tools, equipment and transport.
- Every Helper adds a photo taken live with their camera, and does random selfie spot checks that a person at Help'd reviews, so it is much harder for anyone else to use their account. These checks reduce risk, but they are not a police check or a guarantee about any Helper.
- Helpers are responsible for their own work and tax. Helpers who do Gardening and lawn mowing, or Handyman jobs must hold their own public liability insurance, which Help'd checks. For the other job types, Help'd intends to arrange public liability insurance that covers Helpers while they do those jobs. Any such cover is subject to the insurer's terms, conditions, limits and exclusions, and starts only when Help'd confirms in the app that it is in place. Until then, no Help'd insurance applies to any job. Insurance is not a guarantee of the quality of any work.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to use Help'd. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. Giving a false date of birth is a breach of these terms, and we will close the account.
- Give us true information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- One person, one account. Do not pretend to be someone else or create an account for someone else.
4. Posting a job
- Describe the job accurately and honestly, including its size and anything a Helper should know before accepting, such as stairs, heavy items, pets, or hazards like asbestos, mould, sharp objects or unsafe structures.
- Provide a safe place to work, and safe access to it. Tell the Helper about any risks you know of.
- You set the job price before a Helper is offered the job. A Helper who accepts agrees to do the job for that price. If extra work is needed, agree it in the app (see section 9) or post it as a new job.
- Do not share card details, passwords, door codes or other private information in the job description or chat.
- Multi-day jobs: if a job cannot be finished in one day, tick "This is a multi-day job" when listing it and choose the most days it should take (2 to 7). Helpers see this before they accept. The price is for the whole job. Do not tick it if the job can be done in one day. If a job runs past its finish date, talk in the chat and agree what happens next.
5. Job types and licensed work
Help'd is for everyday tasks. The job types are flat-pack assembly, help me move (lifting, carrying, packing and loading), cleaning, weeding and green waste (weeding, with green waste put in your green bin or a skip you have arranged), gardening and lawn mowing, handyman odd jobs, and painting. Helpers do not transport your belongings in their own vehicle as part of a Help'd job.
Help'd does not offer plumbing, gas fitting, electrical work or appliance repairs. Some work must, by law, only be done by a licensed or registered person, whatever the job is worth. In Victoria this includes electrical work, plumbing, gas fitting, drainage, asbestos removal and structural building work such as demolition, re-stumping and re-blocking. Other building work over $10,000 (including materials) also needs a registered builder. Do not post or ask a Helper to do any of this work through Help'd, even as part of a bigger job. If a job turns out to need it, the Helper may leave the job with no charge to you.
6. Jobs that are not allowed
Do not post or accept a job that is illegal, unsafe or harmful, or that would put anyone at risk. This includes anything that breaks the law, involves weapons, drugs or stolen goods, harms a person, animal or property, invades someone's privacy, involves caring for children or vulnerable people without the checks the law requires, or asks for work the Helper is not licensed to do. Helpers can say no to any job. We may remove a job or an account that breaks this rule.
7. Prices, fees and payment
- Prices are in Australian dollars. Most Helpers are small businesses that are not registered for GST. Where a Helper is registered for GST, the job price includes GST.
- Customers pay the job price with no booking fee. Help'd's service fee of 12, 15 or 18 percent of the job price is taken from the Helper's payout, based on the Helper's level in Help'd Rewards (see section 8).
- Payment collection: Help'd collects the job price from you on behalf of the Helper, as the Helper's limited payment collection agent, using Stripe. When you pay through Help'd, you have paid the Helper for that job.
- When a Helper accepts your job, your card is authorised (held) for the job price. Your card is charged when the Helper marks the job complete. If the job is cancelled before work starts, the hold is released and you are not charged. Stripe has its own terms.
- If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us first (section 13) so we can fix it quickly. This does not affect your right to ask your bank to dispute a charge.
- In the free test version, no real payments are taken.
8. Help'd Rewards and the Help'd Referral Program
Helpers earn one of three levels from completed jobs. Help'd's service fee on their jobs is 18 percent at Starter (from the first job), 15 percent at Silver (after 15 completed jobs) and 12 percent at Gold (after 50 completed jobs). When a Customer books a Helper they have worked with before, that Helper may be offered the job first for up to a minute before it is offered to other Helpers. To reach or keep Gold, a Helper with at least 5 ratings needs an average rating of 4.5 or higher; otherwise they stay at Silver until it recovers. Jobs that are not genuine, such as jobs between accounts you control, do not count and may lead to removal. Levels and rates may change, and we will give notice in the app before a change affects you. Levels are a reward for using Help'd. They are not money, cannot be transferred and have no cash value.
Help'd Referral Program: the referral code is the only discount on Help'd. A person with a referral code gets a flat 50% off Help'd's service fee on every job. For a Customer, the saving is exactly half of Help'd's fee on that job, which depends on the level of the Helper who accepts it: on a $100 job, $9.00 off with a Starter Helper (18 percent fee), $7.50 with a Silver Helper (15 percent) and $6.00 with a Gold Helper (12 percent). The price you pay is shown before you confirm and again on your job summary.
One code per job: if both the Customer and the Helper have a referral code on the same job, only the Customer's code is used on that job and the Helper pays their normal level fee. A code is entered once, is personal to the person who redeems it, has no cash value and cannot be transferred. Help'd may stop a code being redeemed by new people at any time; people who already redeemed it keep their discount unless they misuse it (for example, jobs that are not genuine).
9. Price changes during a job
Once a Helper has arrived, either the Customer or the Helper may ask to change the job price, with a clear, specific explanation of what changed and why (30 to 400 characters). The price only changes if the other person approves in the app. Help'd never changes a price on its own. A new price can be no less than $20 and no more than $5,000. There is no other limit on a rise as long as it is documented on both sides. If a new price is more than 70% above the original price, the person who asked gets a 6 digit safety code and must give it to the other person, in person or by phone, who types it into the app to approve. Both of you can add up to 5 photos at a time in the job chat to show why a price is changing. Chat messages and photos cannot be edited or deleted. A job can have up to three price requests, so both sides have up to three chances to agree. Once a request is approved the price is agreed and final. A request that is declined, taken back or not answered within 10 minutes leaves the price unchanged. If the price is not agreed, the Helper may leave the job with no charge to the Customer and nothing counting against the Helper. Every request, explanation, answer, safety code check and chat photo is saved and shown on the final job summary. Help'd's service fee is worked out on the final approved price.
10. Start code, live location and staying safe
When a Helper arrives, the Customer gets a 4 digit start code. The Helper asks for it before starting work. Only give your code to the person at your door. The code is a safety check. It does not mean that Help'd has checked or approved the Helper in any other way.
Live location and arrival alerts: for safety and trust, a Helper's live location is shown to their Customer on a map from when the job is accepted until the Helper arrives. Helpers agree to share it before they go online. Customers agree before they see it, and receive alerts when their Helper is nearby. Location is only used while the app is open and is never sold. See the Privacy policy.
When a Helper accepts your job, you will see their photo. Check that the person who arrives matches it. If they don't, don't let them start, and use Report in the chat. A Helper's photo is shown to you only for your safety on that job: please do not copy, share or post it.
Use common sense. Keep chat inside the app, check that the Helper's name, photo and rating match, and leave or ask them to leave if you feel unsafe. In an emergency call 000.
11. Cancellations
A Customer can cancel until the Helper has started the work, at no charge. Helpers should only accept jobs they can do. A Helper who repeatedly accepts jobs and does not turn up may be removed.
12. Ratings, messages and content
Be honest and respectful. Ratings and messages must be genuine, based on a real job, and must not be false, misleading, abusive, discriminatory or against the law. Do not offer or accept anything in return for a rating. We do not edit genuine ratings or hide them because they are negative, but we may remove content that breaks these rules. Messages are used to run the job and to look into reports.
Helpers can also rate Customers (1 to 5 stars) after a finished job. A Helper sees a Customer's rating before they accept a job. If a Customer's rating falls under 80% (4.0 stars) after at least 5 ratings, we may send a friendly warning. If poor ratings or reports continue, the Customer's account may be removed from Help'd. We will tell you first and you can ask us to look again by emailing support@gethelpd.com.au. This is version 1 of the Customer rating and we may improve it.
You keep ownership of the photos and words you post. You give Help'd a free, non-exclusive licence to use them in Australia and overseas only to run, protect and improve Help'd (for example, showing your job photo to the Helper and keeping it on the job record). We will not use your photos in advertising without asking you first.
The Help'd name, logo, app and content belong to Help'd. You may use the app for its intended purpose only. Do not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the app, or use it to send spam.
13. Reporting, complaints and disputes
You can report a job or a person from the chat screen, and you can block someone so you do not see their messages and are not matched with them again. We review reports and may warn, suspend or close accounts. We may suspend an account straight away where safety is at risk.
If something goes wrong with a job, please tell us at support@gethelpd.com.au within 7 days of the job if you can, so we can look into it while the details are fresh. A later complaint will still be looked at. Tell us what happened and include photos if you have them. We will talk to both sides, aim to respond within 14 days, and try to help reach a fair outcome. Because the job is between the Customer and the Helper, we cannot force either of you to act, but we may use the job record, chat and photos to help, and we may hold a payout while a genuine dispute is looked into.
If you are not happy with how we handled a complaint, you may contact Consumer Affairs Victoria, or apply to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). Business Helpers may also contact the Victorian Small Business Commission.
14. Suspending or closing accounts
You can delete your account in the app at any time under Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts anyone at risk, or is used for fraud. Where practical, we will tell you why. If a Helper is paused for a low rating or acceptance rate, they can appeal in the app and a person will review it. See the Helper agreement for the steps.
15. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. This includes a guarantee that Help'd's own services (the app, matching and payment collection) will be provided with due care and skill. A Helper's services to you also come with these guarantees, and the Helper is responsible for meeting them. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Responsibility for loss
- Subject to section 15, Help'd is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality or timing of work done by Helpers, or for loss or damage caused by a Helper or a Customer, except to the extent the loss is caused by Help'd's own breach of these terms, negligence or misconduct.
- Help'd provides the app as is. We work hard to keep it running, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, or that a Helper will be found for every job.
- Where the law allows us to limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
- To the extent the law allows, Help'd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. These limits do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, or personal injury caused by Help'd's negligence.
- You are responsible for loss you cause by breaking these terms or the law, or by your negligence, including harm to a Helper while they are at your property because of a hazard you knew about and did not tell them. This does not apply to the extent the loss was caused by Help'd or the Helper.
17. Your privacy
Our Privacy policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. Please read it. It forms part of these terms.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a change that disadvantages you, we will give you at least 14 days' notice in the app or by email, unless the change is needed sooner to comply with the law or to keep people safe. You may be asked to agree again to keep using Help'd. If you do not agree, you can stop using Help'd and delete your account at any time. A change does not affect a job that was already accepted.
19. General
- These terms, the Privacy policy and (for Helpers) the Helper agreement are the whole agreement between you and Help'd about using Help'd.
- If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is read down or removed and the rest stays in force.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and Help'd agree to the courts and tribunals of Victoria. This does not take away any right you have to use a tribunal or court where you live.
- We may send you notices in the app or to the email address on your account.
